The Class of 1981 celebrated its 45th reunion on Friday, October 16, 2026, with 46 classmates and 9 guests. Some classmates still live in South Pasadena. Others drove from as far as Vancouver, Canada, and a few flew in from the Bay Area, Colorado and Tennessee.
The day started with 8 classmates on the golf course. For many who hadn’t been on campus since graduation, a highlight was the campus tour led by classmate Maryann Nielsen, who recently retired after 20 years of teaching social studies at SPHS. Afterward, many of us cheered the Tigers to a 30–3 Homecoming win over Gabrielino.
The evening reception was at the Canoe House in South Pasadena, which some of us may remember as The Bakery or House of Pies. All night, the private room and outdoor patio buzzed with old stories, updates, laughter, selfies and group photos. For some, it was their first reunion since graduation. Friendships picked up right where they left off, new bonds formed, and a shared history brought everyone together.
